Solar Holler is driving huge growth in solar adoption across central Appalachia - and we have plans to expand our offerings to reach even more homes, businesses, and nonprofits over the coming years. Our mission is to completely power Appalachia with renewable energy by 2035, and to do that by making solar affordable and accessible to every Appalachian family and organization.We are seeking a seasoned marketing and sales leader to join our executive team. As the Director of Sales & Marketing you will be responsible for leading a talented, dedicated team of home evaluators, guides, designers, and marketers as we tell our story and increase our reach and impact.*Candidate MUST live in West Virginia.* What You'll Do:Culture and Values Cultivation: As part of the Leadership Team, creates a culture of success, and improves a purpose-driven and values-based organizational culture that attracts, retains, and motivates high-performing employees by leading, managing, and providing accountability to a growing team. Creates a clear vision that is attainable, manages by executing on the vision, and is accountable for results and adherence to policy and processes.Reaching Growth Targets: We're on a mission to power all of Appalachia with renewable energy in the next 15 years. Doing that means expanding sales and revenues in existing markets, and expanding our core offerings to include innovative services and products. You will hold yourself and your team accountable for profitable sales growth and meeting targeted monthly and annual goals, across different products.The Marketplace: Solar Holler has built the solar marketplace in our region from scratch, and we're the largest player. The Director will set processes for capturing consumer insights, monitoring competition, and collecting customer feedback. Our imperative is to meet Appalachians where they're at, grow the clean energy marketplace, and - in the midst of growth - continue delivering the strongest customer experience.Budgeting & Planning: Build an annual calendar, incorporating marketing campaigns, product launches, external deadlines, etc. Set monthly, quarterly, and annual goals and budget for the marketing, design, and sales teams. Throughout the year, provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting based on the company goals and ongoing capacity to deliver. Attends to key KPIs.Strategic: Active role in strategic planning and company leadership as a member of the Leadership Team. Integrate marketing and sales initiatives across internal and external business priorities.Growth Staff Management: Defines and oversees sales team compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets. Maintaining and enhancing the culture and core values of Solar Holler's superior customer satisfaction ratings, unmatched accuracy, and social mission of bringing a 21st Century energy industry to the forgotten corners of Appalachia. Includes accurately assessing the performance and fit of team members and being willing to make changes as necessary. You will work with the Sales and Marketing Managers and Design and Guide Leads to recruit, hire, coach, and build the larger sales and marketing team.Efficiency and Process Improvement: Identifies tools and techniques that allow our business to gain efficiencies and work smarter as we grow. Leverages and improves the use of our company's CRM system and other existing digital tools. Attends to process improvement, documents, and aligns the team around best practices. Identifies new software options to support our team and our customers.Partners: Maintain existing partnerships with industry allies, including financing, service, and software providers, to ensure that our pipeline of projects get the attention and care they need to come to life.Marketing. Lead a creative, data-driven marketing and branding strategy that shares our story and vision, by utilizing a mix of earned media, digital, community engagement, and affinity marketing. Use existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within local media.Brand: Hold and deepen the Solar Holler brand, and expand the use of our brand story. Our brand has a sense of place and history unlike any other. Grow brand recognition and awareness, and leverage our brand story to differentiate us within the marketplace.Who You Are and What You've Done:1. You have a passion for our mission that bleeds through, including rebuilding our Appalachian communities. You feel the sense of urgency to what we're doing, and use that to guide your actions2. 10+ years of sales and marketing experience, including managing a high performing team. You have wide and deep experience in brand management, lead generation, and consumer sales. You know the key levers to pull to drive success, and will quickly gain the respect of an experienced team.3. Experience driving growth. You've experienced growth organizations - dynamic, fun, innovative, and incredibly challenging. It's a culture in which you thrive.4. Infectiously energetic with customers and colleagues alike. You have experience building healthy teams, and have developed personal awareness and leadership skills around inclusivity.5. Experience in leading executive, corporate, internal, and product communications. Experience on an executive or leadership team in which you completed company-wide forecasting and strategic planning. Strong leadership skills with a focus on collaboration, proactivity, and flexibility with a super power that rallies people and encourages others to get things done.6. Strategic problem solver with the ability to think bigger picture, dive into the details, and deliver on communication, brand, and industry marketing needs.7. A digital native who finds navigating cloud-based tools to be second nature. Your eyes light up when you see a well-crafted pivot table, because you made it. Experience working in and with CRMs, and being able to guide your team to fully utilize them.8. An eye for beautiful design that makes numbers and concepts sing. A sense of creativity that lifts a brand off the page.
