applying? for any position. Building Superintendent I Summary: This
position oversees the on-site, day-to-day activities of the
construction of a Young Life facility including: buildings,
domestic and waste water systems, utilities, recreational features,
parking areas and roads. This position calls for hands-on
involvement, inspection of items and work, supervising staff and
interns, setting priorities, setting and adhering to budgets,
working with contractors and researching and implementing portions
of the work. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a way
that will honor Jesus Christ and comply with Young Life’s Statement
of Purpose. The building superintendent will supervise a project or
projects totaling $2,000,000 or less in a 12-month time period.
Essential Duties: Coordinate all on-site activities of a
construction project. This includes but may not be limited to:
contractors, suppliers, vendors, volunteers, work teams, camp
operations and inspections. Solve coordination or document
conflicts or problems that arise on a construction project.
Identify issues that need to be brought to the attention of the
project manager. Maintain a safe work site. This will include the
monitoring of contractors’ safety practices. Ensure that the safety
of all guests of the property is not jeopardized by any work
activities. Maintain a current set of construction documents for
construction use. This includes but is not limited to updating
changes and producing as-built drawings. Inspect materials for
conformance with construction specifications. Monitor installations
for conformance with construction drawings. Responsible for the
highest level of project quality control. Identify anything that
may impact the cost and/or schedule of the project and report it to
the project manager. Be prepared to present solution options and
recommendations. Capable of reviewing and certifying monthly
contractors’ progress payments. Working Conditions: May include
lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending down,
stooping, stretching, kneeling and reaching. Education: Associate’s
degree in engineering, architecture or building science or
substitute a minimum of 10 years of construction experience.
Experience Required For The Job: Proven track record of
successfully supervising site development, infrastructure, utility
and superstructure projects. Capable of reading construction
drawings and specifications. Basic understanding of construction
equipment. Possess understanding of construction science and the
trades. Comprehension of basic surveying principles. Capable of
performing simple engineering calculations. Ability to follow a
construction schedule, interpret requirements and implement actions
to achieve goals. Capable of providing clear, written and verbal
directions. Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and
database software applications. Note: Young Life is a relational
ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like
hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the
unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is
important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life
positively and professionally within the community and be able to
work with and minister to the volunteer high school- and
college-age young people who attend our camp. Job Specific Working
Conditions: Additional Job Description This job will serve both in
a Construction Services capacity for active construction and a
Facilities Management capacity for the existing Wild Ridge camp
needs. Additional Duties include: Demonstrate a posture of service
that anticipates guest needs and responds with professionalism
through intentional decisions and systems Execute facilities and
landscape responsibilities with attention to the standards and
metrics required for excellent camp operations Execute all DIN/PM
items assigned for buildings, grounds and vehicles Develop and
execute maintenance plan for turf, plants, trees, shrubs Document
all work completed and items maintained Note: The anticipated
salary for this position can range from $43,480-$54,420 depending
on relevant education, experience, and location. Notes: Young Life
is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of
Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.
