Assist the Nursing Program Director and other faculty members in
the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the
curriculum; to develop strategies to teach the curriculum; and
assist in the implementation of the course through teaching,
supervising, and provision of academic advisement of students. Will
complete clinical at local hospitals (Parkersburg). Qualifications
The Instructor must meet the following requirements: Have a
graduate degree with a major in nursing; or Have a bachelors degree
with a major in nursing and: Be enrolled in a graduate program
within one year of employment as a faculty member; or 10 years of
direct care patient experience in nursing for full-time faculty, or
2 years of direct care patient experience in nursing for part-time
faculty. Three (3) years of occupational experience Holds a
current, active RN license or privilege to practice that is not
encumbered and meets the requirements of the Board of Nursing. Have
evidence of current experience in nursing practice and education
sufficient to demonstrateprofessional competence; or for faculty
with less than two years of experience in education, the
nursingprogram administrator will submit to the Board a mentoring
and orientation plan as defined by Boardguidelines and function
under the guidance of a faculty member fully qualified in the
specific teaching area and professional competence.
Interprofessional faculty teaching non-clinical nursing courses
shall have advanced preparation appropriatefor the content being
taught. Responsibilities: Remain familiar with institutional
policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog, and the
Faculty Handbook and follow such policies and procedures. Develop,
implement, evaluate and update the purpose, philosophy, outcomes
and organizational framework of the Nursing Education Program
Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of student
admission, progression, retention and graduation policies within
the policies of the College. Promote positive and productive
relationships with service area hospitals, clinics, businesses,
industries, and agencies. Be prompt and punctual in reporting for
work, in meeting classes, and in keeping office hours. Serve on
Nursing Staff committees as assigned Prepare or assist in the
preparation of materials such as those used in academic
administration when requested, including course syllabi, program
outlines, articulation, and catalog materials. Promote student
development through enrichment and mentoring experiences. Perform
any other professional duties as assigned by the Nursing Program
Director Assist the students to develop an understanding of values,
attitudes, and ideals appropriate to the health care profession.
Clinical Instruction Direct, Manage, and Evaluate Student learning
in the clinical/lab setting. Assists the student in integration of
theory and practice, specific to the courses learning activities
and level of the learner. Evaluates the students development of
clinical reasoning skills. Remain available at all times the
student is in the clinical/lab setting. Directly observe and guide
students learning activities with the clients and in simulated
environments. Evaluate students in clinical/lab related to the
Student Learning Outcomes. Provide timely and ongoing feedback to
the faculty (or to Clinical Coordinator) regarding the clinical and
lab sites effectiveness in supporting the student accomplishment of
the course and program outcomes. Collaborate with the unit manager
and staff so that the presence of students and their activities are
supportive of the units goals and needs. Demonstrate proper respect
for students, faculty, and staff and conduct the class in a student
friendly manner. Orient students to the clinical/lab area, and
demonstrate proper procedures. Work with the Clinical Coordinator
and the Nursing Program Director to ensure clinical/lab facilities
have course learning objectives and student schedules for each
course. While Nursing Clinical Faculty is responsible for
fulfilling all primary responsibilities listed above to achieve the
immediate goals of the campus, he/she is responsible to meet all
organizational goals. As such adjustments or additions to these
responsibilities and the methods by which they are achieved may be
required by management to ensure operational effectiveness and
efficiency across departments, campuses, and the organization as a
