Responsibilities
River Park Hospital, a 165-bed facility and a leader in behavioral health care, located in Huntington, WV has an opening for a full-time night shift Registered Nurse (RN). The schedule for this position is 3 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7am) per week with opportunity to pick up additional hours. Shift differentials are available for applicable shifts/days.
There is a $12,000 sign-on/retention bonus associated with this position. After 6 months of successful employment, you will receive a $2,000 bonus. After 12 months of successful employment, you will receive a $3,000 bonus and another $3,000 after 18 months of employment. After 2 years of successful employment, you will receive the final bonus installment of $4,000.
Huntington is the second largest city in WV and sits on the scenic Ohio River. It is home to Marshall University and in 2017 was named America's Best Community. Snow skiing, white water rafting, zip lining, water skiing, boating, fishing, ATV riding, and hiking are some of the activities enjoyed by those who live there. Huntington is referred to as part of the Tri-State area (WV, KY, OH) and is close to many major cities that are just a few hours away and make a great weekend get-a-way including Lexington & Louisville, KY, Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC, Pittsburgh, PA, and Cincinnati & Columbus, OH. For the nature lovers, there are 34 state parks in West Virginia, many with lodges and cabins available. Inexpensive direct flights are provided by Allegiant Air to Myrtle Beach, SC, Tampa/Clearwater, FL, Orlando, FL, Sarasota, FL, and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

  • Patient/Staff Education: Demonstrates a commitment to meeting the learning needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate resources to meet those needs and achieve positive patient outcomes. Assists in creating an environment that promotes educational growth opportunities for nursing peers and colleagues.

  • Nursing Process: Demonstrates the use of nursing process as a problem-solving model.

  • Leadership/Collaboration/Professional Development: Demonstrates respect and understanding for peers and other clinical disciplines and participates as an effective member of the patient care team to formulate an integrated approach to care. Demonstrates leadership behaviors and is committed to the development of self and others.
    Qualifications
    Job Specifications:
    Education, Certification/Licensure, and/or Experience

    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

    • Valid West Virginia RN license with one year nursing experience and prefer six months in a mental health setting

    • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse preferred

    • Current certification in CPR

    • Must attend TCI during new hire orientation and continue to keep the training current as required by the hospital.
      Knowledge, skills, and abilities required

      • Good communication skills (written and oral) and good computer skills.

      • Ability to work with others as a team.

      • Basic clerical skills. Basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax).

      • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.

      • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

      • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

      • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism when circumstances warrant such action.

      • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.

      • Must possess the ability and willingness to work professionally with other personnel, patients, family members and guests.

      • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, emotionally upset, varying age population, and, at times, hostile people within the Hospital.

      • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with patients, personnel, and support agencies.

      • Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
