Job Description:
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking a dedicated
Clinical Psychologist to join our healthcare team, providing vital
psychological services in a secure and humane environment for
federal inmates. This role demands a compassionate professional who
is prepared to face unique challenges and contribute to the mental
well-being and rehabilitation of the inmate population. As a
Clinical Psychologist at BOP, you will have the unique opportunity
to make a significant impact on public safety and correctional
effectiveness through individual and group psychological services.
Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of inmates to
determine mental health status and needs. Develop and implement
treatment plans encompassing therapeutic interventions and
follow-ups. Provide crisis intervention services in situations
involving inmate self-injury or potential harm to others. Lead
group therapy sessions and psychoeducational classes to address
specific inmate needs, such as anger management, stress reduction,
and coping skills. Participate in the training of staff on
psychological topics and inmate interaction techniques. Collaborate
with other health professionals, correctional staff, and
administration to optimize inmate care and institutional safety.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of clinical services and case
management. Expertise in psychological assessment techniques and
psychotherapy modalities. Ability to work effectively within a
multidisciplinary team. Strong crisis management and intervention
skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Cultural
competency with diverse populations. Medical Insurance Dental
Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Valid license to practice
psychology in the United States. Preferably certified by the
American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Required security
clearance obtained upon hiring.
