About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health
to find a qualified Telemetry RN in Parkersburg, West Virginia,
26101! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty:
Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Valid RN License
required Certifications: BLS & ACLS required Must-Have: Must be
able to read telemetry strips. Comfortable with post-heart cath,
CHF, COPD, and arrhythmias. Experience with Heparin titration.
Ability to perform EKGs. Description: This unit specializes in
cardiac telemetry with a focus on providing care for patients with
various cardiac conditions. The nurse-to-patient ratio averages 1:5
and can adjust to 1:6 based on patient needs. Nurses are required
to titrate Heparin and occasionally Lasix or Bumex, while Cardizem
and Amiodarone are set-rate drips. Monitor techs are present on the
unit, and nurses are responsible for reading telemetry strips.
There is a charge nurse available 24/7; however, daytime charge
nurses may take patient assignments when necessary. Patient Care
Technicians assist with duties including activities of daily living
and EKGs. Shift times are 07:00-19:30 for day shifts, and
self-scheduling is permitted while accommodating unit needs.
Weekend shifts are required every other weekend for travelers.
Nurses are expected to manage their own admissions and discharges,
but teamwork is emphasized with support always available. The unit
values a fast-paced work environment, facilitating numerous
discharges and admissions daily. Travelers may be floated to
different units, but only within their skill set. Scrub color is
royal blue, and specific guidelines for attire must be followed. A
brief computer training followed by shadowing with a preceptor is
conducted prior to full indepe?dence in patient care. Candidates
