Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/5/2026 About the Position Job
Opportunity – Emergency Department Holding Unit RN – West Virginia
Start Date: March 5, 2026 (Orientation held every other Thursday)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia Compensation: Details provided
to qualified applicants Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, 7:00
PM – 7:00 AM, weekdays with every other weekend required.
Guaranteed 36 or 48 hours per week (RN's choice). Overtime applies
after 48 hours for 4x12 schedules. No call required. Highlights:
Work in a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital with
838 staffed beds 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio with adult and
geriatric populations Utilize Cerner EMR system in a fast-paced
holding unit environment May float to ED as needed; comprehensive
interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services,
pharmacy, and rapid response teams Free parking for travelers and
flexible orientation schedule Patient diagnoses include observation
patients with chest pain rule-out, TIA, chronic anemia, CHF/COPD
exacerbations Requirements: Active West Virginia or Compact RN
License (pending license acceptable for submission but must be
active before start date) Minimum 2 years of RN experience
required; 1 year minimum in-specialty experience required
MS/Telemetry, Telemetry, and ER Holding experience strongly
preferred Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (American Heart
Association), and CPI (must be obtained at least 1 week before
start date) Cerner EMR experience required Proficiency in IV
therapy/phlebotomy including accessing ports, blood product
administration, peripheral line care, and starting IVs Experience
with heparin protocols and managing cardiac drips (no titration)
Knowledge of neurological/psychiatric conditions including CVA,
seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal Respiratory care skills
including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen
administration, and non-invasive airway management Experience with
care of ventilated patients and tracheostomy management preferred
First-time travelers accepted with appropriate experience Minimum 2
manager or charge nurse references from the past 2 years Must
reside more than 100 miles from facility (75-100 miles considered
on case-by-case basis) Flu vaccine required during flu season
(October 1 – March 31) unless medical exemption documented;
