with Cynet Health to find a qualified Med/Surg / Ortho RN in
Parkersburg, West Virginia, 26101! Job Title: Registered Nurse

Experience with ortho patients in a medical surgical setting.
Knowledge and experience in using PCA pumps. Description: The unit
has 33 beds, all private rooms. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to
6. Candidates must have experience with elective surgeries
including hips, knees, and shoulders. The unit also handles
fractures from falls and neuro-surgeries involving back and neck
issues. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Common drips
involve IV fluids and PCA pumps. A charge nurse is available 24/7
on the unit. Day shift charge may take patients if necessary, while
night charge will always manage a full patient assignment. Patient
care techs are available to assist, with an expected ratio of 1
tech for every 6 patients. Tech duties include vital signs, finger
stick blood sugars, activities of daily living, and the capability
to discharge Foley catheters. Respiratory therapy equipment such as
CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen can be provided. Remote telemetry
is available and monitored by another department; RNs do not need
to read telemetry strips. Shifts are 12 hours long, with
self-scheduling available for permanent staff. Travelers will be
scheduled according to unit needs, with options for block
scheduling. There is a requirement for working every other weekend,
with specific days assigned. Holiday work may be expected depending
on unit staffing. Travelers may be the first to float to other
units as needed. Dress code requires royal blue scrubs, and
jackets, if worn, must be royal blue scrub jackets. The orientation
includes 1 day of training on the electronic medical record system
followed by 1 day with a preceptor. The third day will involve
working independently. Candidates should be aware of any time-off
