Job Description:

The Junior Web Developer is responsible for creating & updating websites for LSU Online & Continuing Education with direction from LSU Online Management and more senior web developer staff. The Developer works with the Marketing Department and the UX Specialist to design & develop web pages and website features relating to fully online programs, training, and community programming while contributing to the creation of a cohesive online presence. This position supports testing and documentation of existing and new website features, accessibility testing, content entry into the CMS, and contributes to the SEO capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Creates and updates websites and web features related to online and community programming. Collaborates with Marketing, IT, and other internal stakeholders to craft a compelling web presence using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Django, Python, PostgreSQL, Amazon Web Services, and other emerging web development and cloud technologies. Maintains web app servers and infrastructure. 40%

Assists in the creation of website documentation and a website user guide to inform each organizational department on how to use the CMS admin tools to add & update content. 20%

Supports internal training and maintenance of distributed access to the program websites as programs expand to support scale. Assists organizational departments adding & updating new content and creating new web pages. 20%

Runs accessibility checks and ensure that sites are WCAG 2.0 AA compliant. Provides feedback and makes suggestions on how to correct any poor performance issues.10%

Runs regular functionality testing, performance testing, and security testing on existing website and new website features. Provides feedback and makes suggestions on how to correct any poor performance issues.10%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technically-related field with 1+ years of experience.

Specific Experience - Experience designing, developing and/or maintaining websites. Proficient knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in technology and design-related field with 2+ years of experience.

Specific Experience -Experience designing, developing and maintaining websites. Proficient knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Django, Python, PostgreSQL.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Analytical skills and attention to accuracy. Ability to work independently and collaborate professionally with diverse teams. Ability to self-prioritize tasks in a fast changing environment. Ability to interpret and apply university policies, State and Federal Regulations. Experience in Excel and other Word Office products.
