It is the passion, innovation, and dedication of our employees to each other and to a spirit of excellence that propels SDI to the highest standards of operational and financial performance.Located in Huntington, West Virginia, Steel of West Virginia (SWVA) is one of SDI's EAF steel mills, producing a wide array of specialty merchant bar quality products and frequently performing value-added fabrication and finishing operations on those products, such as cutting to length, additional straightening, hole punching, shot blasting, welding, galvanizing, and coating. Through this array of products and additional finishing, SWVA creates custom finished products that are generally placed directly into our customers' assembly operations. SWVA is also on the forefront of the use of robotic technology in many of its operations.The SWVA financial controller position is an exciting leadership opportunity for anyone who enjoys a dynamic work environment and collaborating with both local and corporate team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and timely reporting of all the division's financial data and will play a key role within the location's management team in producing annual and monthly forecasts/budgets, analyzing operating and financial results to provide input to optimize earnings, and developing business strategies to determine cash allocation options. Further, the successful candidate will also be participating in other Company-wide SDI initiatives. Job Duties & Responsibilities:Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, properly documented, performing as intended, reviewed regularly, and updated as needed.Verify the accuracy and completeness of financial results and transactions through the use of detailed reviews, reconciliation reviews and analytical procedures.Report financial results and provide required support or analysis in accordance with SDI requirements.Ensure compliance with SDI policies such as capital spending, safeguarding assets, transaction approvals and expense reimbursements.Provide the local management team with timely and accurate financial data, communicate with other department managers, and actively participate in management meetings.Identify key metrics and develop tools to measure and report on teract with and mentor the SWVA accounting department on a regular basis, providing active feedback and talent development opportunities.Prepare comprehensive annual and monthly financial forecasts.Requirements: Certified Public Accountant in active status, with at least a four-year accounting degree.7+ years of relevant accounting and/or controllership experience.Excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong written communication skills.Analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge in Excel.Public accounting and/or prior controllership experience preferred.Financial reporting and internal controls experience preferred.
